Wayne Rooney to Launch TV Show

Wayne Rooney is set to launch a new TV show to find the country's best young footballer.

The Manchester United star will film Wayne Rooney's Street Striker for British satellite channel Sky One in urban locations across the UK as he searches for an outstanding young player to nurture and guide.

Producers say the three-part show will also provide an insight into the England striker's life and off-pitch personality.

The show is based on the annual Coca-Cola Street Striker competition and auditions are currently taking place, with boys and girls set different challenges.

The hopefuls will be whittled down to 50 candidates for the first episode of the TV show, before Rooney and a team of judges select the best prospects to progress into episode two.

A source close to the project told industry magazine Broadcast, "This isn't about kids doing keepie uppies in the park.

"It's beautifully shot, real street football."

Michael Jackson - Newsman Bashir Has Brain Tumour Scare

The newsman who made headlines with his expose of MICHAEL JACKSON has been hit with a brain tumour.

Martin Bashir's Living With Michael Jackson TV special helped cement the pop superstar's reputation as an oddball who shared his bed with children.

And now the British news reporter, who hosts America's Nightline show, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour after a bang to the head prompted him to seek medical help.

Tests showed Bashir had a benign tumour.

A representative for Bashir says, "Martin is seeing this as a blessing in disguise. If he hadn't had the knock to his head, he would never have known about the tumour."

The newsman is not expected to undergo surgery, but doctors will monitor his condition.

John Michael Montgomery - Montgomery In Rehab

Country singer JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY has reportedly checked into a rehab treatment facility for substance abuse.

The star has axed all concert dates and personal appearances for the next 30 days to voluntarily submit himself to the centre to treat his severe anxiety attacks and sleep disorder, his management company said on Friday (09May08).

In 2006, Montgomery was arrested on alcohol, drugs and weapons charges. As part of a plea bargain, he acknowledged there was sufficient evidence for a DUI conviction and the other charges were dismissed.

In a statement, Montgomery says, "I will be disappearing for a while to try and defeat the demons that have stripped me of my energy of life and good health for so many years now. I assure you that however long it may take, I'm gonna fight to the end and come out stronger."

The 43-year-old is due to release an album on his own label in September (08).
